Abstract

This article examines how internal disciplinary processes affect the perceptions of military police officers in São Paulo, Brazil, whose police force has a military structure linked to the Armed Forces. Analyzing survey data from 298 officers using Structural Equation Modelling, the study finds that respectful treatment during Disciplinary Administrative Proceedings influences officers' views of their superiors, peers, and organizational justice more than the outcome of the proceedings. The research highlights the significance of procedural justice within the militarized context of Brazil's public security institutions and its impact on internal relationships among police personnel.
