Abstract
This article focuses on the application of Dr. Daryl Fujii’s ECLECTIC model in pediatric neuropsychological evaluations to enhance cultural responsiveness. The ECLECTIC model integrates a broad range of social and cultural factors, such as bilingual language development, economic status, and social determinants, to provide patient-centered care. Two case studies involving pediatric patients with Spina Bifida and varying levels of English-Spanish bilingualism illustrate how ethnic, linguistic, and economic factors influence neuropsychological assessment and clinical decision-making. The article highlights the model’s utility in addressing healthcare disparities by emphasizing a social-cultural lens in diagnosis and treatment planning within pediatric medical populations.
