Abstract

A study led by Linda Pagani from the Universite de Montreal's School of Psychoeducation examined the long-term effects of early exposure to violent content on children's later antisocial behavior. The research focused on nearly 2,000 children born between 1997 and 1998, finding that exposure to violent television content at ages 3.5 and 4.5 predicted increases in antisocial behavior for boys at age 15. The study highlights the importance of public health initiatives to inform parents and communities about the risks of early childhood exposure to media violence, particularly for boys.
