Abstract
The article discusses possible reasons for the gender ratio bias toward men in positions of leadership. The author notes that certain personality characteristics of leaders are not the same across gender. It is argued that male hubris tends to present as confidence, which then is often mistaken for competence. The author argues that arrogant, narcissistic character traits in males allow them to be placed in leadership positions more often than women, despite women having greater emotional intelligence than men. However, these traits also make men less effective leaders than women are likely to be.
