Abstract
The article focuses on a court ruling that states receiving a single voicemail without permission is enough for an individual to proceed with a class-action lawsuit under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). The ruling reverses a previous decision and allows the plaintiff, Matthew Dickson, to seek damages for a telemarketing campaign conducted by Direct Energy. The court recognizes the intrusion upon seclusion and the harm caused by unsolicited voicemails under TCPA violations.
