Abstract

This article focuses on the application of the Socially Responsible Neuropsychology (SRN) model in improving Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) care for Latinx children, illustrated through a case study of an 11-year-old bilingual Latino patient. Latinx children with ASD often face delayed diagnosis and more severe symptoms due to systemic barriers such as language differences, limited ASD literacy, mental health stigma, and mistrust in healthcare. The case study utilized culturally responsive assessment methods, including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2), confirming diagnoses of ASD and Developmental Coordination Disorder. The findings emphasize the importance of bicultural and bilingual neuropsychologists in providing equitable, culturally sensitive evaluations and interventions to address disparities in ASD care among Latinx populations.
