Most to the point, the texts under discussion here have influenced Judaism and Christianity (hence millions of human beings) far more than many realize. The discussions of Josephus, Philo, and the Enochic literature, in particular, do a good job of explaining the texts' underlying aims and methods of dealing with their material.
