Abstract
The article focuses on the increasing prevalence of bedbug (Cimex lectularius and Cimex hemipterus) infestations worldwide, their biology, bite reactions, and methods of eradication. Bedbugs are obligate blood-feeding insects that prefer humans and typically feed at night on exposed skin, causing a range of skin reactions from none to severe hypersensitivity, though they do not inject toxins or transmit diseases in humans. Diagnosis relies on finding the insects or their signs in the environment, especially around beds. Effective eradication usually requires a combination of chemical treatments, primarily chrysanthemic acid derivatives (pyrethroids) and potentiators, alongside physical methods such as heat treatment, cold exposure, vacuuming, and sealing hiding places.
