Abstract
A pilot study conducted at Nice University Hospital in France evaluated the efficacy of hypnotherapy in treating chronic idiopathic pruritus (CIP), a condition characterized by persistent itching. The study included 11 participants who received five hypnotherapy sessions over a period of 56 days. The primary endpoint was a reduction in the pruritus numerical rating scale (NRS) score, and secondary endpoints included improvements in other measures such as sleep quality and quality of life. The results showed a significant decrease in the pruritus NRS score at day 84 and day 140, indicating the effectiveness of hypnotherapy in relieving CIP symptoms. The study had limitations such as a small sample size and lack of a control group, but it provides evidence for the potential benefits of hypnotherapy in managing CIP. [Extracted from the article]
