Abstract
The article focuses on a study examining the effects of acupuncture at specific points (HT-7 and GV-20) on anxiety levels and cardiovascular function in patients with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). Conducted in Chennai, India, the research involved 60 participants aged 20-55, who were divided into a study group receiving acupuncture and a control group practicing breath awareness meditation. Results indicated a significant reduction in anxiety levels for the acupuncture group, while no notable differences were found in blood pressure or pulse rate between the groups. The study suggests that acupuncture may effectively reduce anxiety without impacting cardiovascular health in younger and middle-aged individuals with GAD. [Extracted from the article]
