Abstract
The article focuses on a study examining the effects of Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) on academic engagement among elementary school students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Conducted by the Department of Child and Family Studies at the University of South Florida, the research found that PMR led to promising increases in academic engagement for three participants, with positive feedback from both the teacher and students regarding its feasibility as a behavior-management strategy. However, the study acknowledged limitations due to its small sample size and suggested that future research should include more participants and assess long-term impacts of PMR on engagement and academic outcomes for students with ASD.
