Abstract
The article focuses on a study evaluating the effects of repeated balneotherapy on skin barrier function and psychological stress regulation in middle-aged women. Conducted over 16 weeks in Asan, South Korea, the quasi-experimental trial involved 58 women aged 40-64, with half receiving biweekly immersion sessions in mineralized hot spring water and the other half serving as a control group. Results indicated significant improvements in skin hydration, transepidermal water loss, and psychological stress measures in the intervention group. The research suggests that thermal bathing may serve as a viable non-pharmacologic intervention for preventive wellness, warranting further investigation through larger randomized trials.
