Abstract
Of the 41 patients diagnosed with OLP enrolled in our study, 17 patients (41.5%) had simple hyperplasia, 14 patients (34.1%) had mild dysplasia and 10 patients (24.4%) had moderate dysplasia. Oral leukoplakia (OLP) is a white plaque in the oral cavity, well known as the most common form of oral potentially malignant disorders that may transfer into oral carcinoma.[1] Although aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT) as a minimally invasive treatment has been applied in the treatment of OLP for over 10 years, there remain many barriers resulting in a substantial proportion of patients with OLP not receiving PDT.[[2]] Therefore, a pilot study had been performed to evaluate the overall clinical efficacy of ALA-PDT in the treatment of OLP and to understand the barriers that may affect its implementation.
