Abstract

This article focuses on a case report of female bladder outlet obstruction (FBOO), a condition characterized by increased resistance to urinary flow due to functional or anatomical impairments along the female urethra. It describes a 37-year-old woman with FBOO who experienced significant symptomatic and urodynamic improvement following a 12-week course of sacral electroacupuncture (EA) targeting acupuncture points BL32, BL33, and BL35. Post-treatment assessments showed reduced urination duration, increased maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax), elimination of postvoid residual volume (PVR), and decreased symptom severity measured by the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) and anxiety levels via the Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)-7 scale. While the findings suggest potential benefits of EA in managing FBOO, the report emphasizes the need for controlled studies with standardized evaluations to confirm efficacy and clarify underlying mechanisms.
