Abstract

We updated systematic reviews for mindfulness and acceptance and commitment therapy for problematic alcohol use and disorders. We found growing evidence mindfulness was associated with reduced alcohol consumption and/or other therapeutic effects and was superior to other treatments under certain conditions. Mindfulness may be valuable for treating comorbidity and offer an alternative to traditional psychosocial interventions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
