Abstract
This article investigates the association between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] levels and tinnitus in the Korean population using data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES V, 2010-2012). Analyzing 16,408 participants, the study found that vitamin D deficiency and low sun exposure significantly increase the risk of developing tinnitus, particularly among younger individuals. While no direct difference in serum vitamin D levels was observed between tinnitus and non-tinnitus groups overall, logistic regression controlling for multiple confounders demonstrated a significant link between low vitamin D status and tinnitus risk. These findings suggest that monitoring and managing vitamin D levels may be relevant in understanding and potentially preventing tinnitus.
