Abstract
This article focuses on a randomized controlled trial investigating the effects of chamomile oil inhalation on sleep quality and insomnia severity in young adults with insomnia. Eighty participants aged 18–35 were assigned to either an aromatherapy group inhaling chamomile oil for 10 minutes nightly over 15 days or a control group maintaining their normal routine. Results showed that the aromatherapy group experienced significant improvements in both the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) scores compared to controls, with no reported adverse effects. The study concludes that chamomile oil inhalation may reduce insomnia severity and enhance sleep quality, while noting limitations such as lack of blinding, absence of an active control, small sample size, and no objective sleep measures, recommending further research to confirm these findings.
