Abstract
The article focuses on a study investigating the psychosocial and behavioral risk factors associated with peptic ulcer disease (PUD) in Sindh, conducted by researchers at Isra University. The case-control study involved 278 participants and found significant associations between PUD and factors such as stress, depression, smoking, alcohol use, urban residency, sedentary lifestyle, and poor sleep. Notably, 57.9% of PUD cases reported moderate-to-severe depression, and high stress levels were linked to increased PUD risk. The researchers concluded that addressing modifiable factors like stress and unhealthy behaviors could help reduce the burden of PUD, suggesting the need for further studies to confirm these findings in larger populations.
