Abstract
The article focuses on how major global events in 2022, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, have created both challenges and opportunities for business analysts (BAs) in 2023. It highlights the need for BAs to expand their roles from traditional analysis to business advisory, emphasizing skills in efficiency improvement, cost savings, agile methodologies, automation, data-driven decision-making, and sustainability. The article also outlines key emerging technologies—such as artificial intelligence (AI), the internet of things (IoT), the metaverse, blockchain, robotics, digital twins, and quantum computing—that BAs must understand to effectively support organizations facing economic and operational disruptions. Overall, it stresses that upskilling in these areas will enable BAs to add greater value amid ongoing global economic and technological shifts.
