Abstract

The article focuses on the challenges and opportunities in developing sustainable talent pipelines for business analysts (BAs). It highlights that many BAs enter the profession accidentally, often lacking structured entry-level roles or clear career pathways, which limits the growth of the talent pool. The author advocates for organizations to create entry-level positions and tailored talent development schemes targeting diverse groups such as career changers, school leavers, and graduates, supported by initiatives like the national Level 4 Business Analysis apprenticeship standard. Additionally, outreach efforts and mentoring by experienced BAs are emphasized as essential for guiding and inspiring future professionals. The article concludes that immediate investment in talent development is crucial for the long-term health of the business analysis profession.
