Abstract

This article focuses on a tutorial for applied researchers using SPSS, a statistical software popular in psychological science, to perform linear regression analyses when conventional assumptions are violated. The research, supported by the University of Graz and conducted at Karl-Franzens-University in Austria, presents methods using heteroskedasticity-consistent (HC) standard errors (HC3 and HC4) and two bootstrap resampling techniques (pairs bootstrap and wild bootstrap) to improve inference accuracy. It also includes guidance on combining bootstrap methods with different confidence intervals and p values, illustrated with computer-generated data. Supplementary materials provide instructions for implementing these methods in the R programming language. The study aims to facilitate more robust statistical analysis for researchers working with SPSS. [Extracted from the article]
