Abstract
"Second Language Prosody and Computer Modeling" is a book that presents computer-based methods for analyzing English learner prosody. It aims to provide a reference for students, researchers, language teachers, and computer scientists from various backgrounds. The book covers linguistic and technical backgrounds, prosody measurement, machine learning methods, and the development of computer models for prosody analysis. It also explores future directions for prosody modeling and identifies gaps and potential applications. While the book has strengths in its scope and demonstration of interdisciplinarity, it could be improved by considering dialogic speech, discussing prosody in languages other than English, and providing more accessible explanations for readers from different disciplines.
