Abstract

The article discusses the probability of success in using statistics in a family history research. Topics include a research by Toronto, Ontario genealogist Linda Reid on two lines of descent from documented siblings with living representatives who share no DNA, the main possibilities about this anomaly such as an adoption in one line or unexpected paternity in the other, and a suggestion that statistics is not needed in family genealogy research.
