Abstract

This article reports on the research in the 2025 working paper “The GenAI Wall Effect: Examining the Limits to Horizontal Expertise Transfer Between Occupational Insiders and Outsiders,” by Luca Vendraminelli et al. This article outlines the research conducted on three groups of workers, grouped by expertise level, assigned a task where some were able to use generative artificial intelligence (genAI) and others weren’t. This article highlights and summarizes the research findings for thoughtful incorporation of genAI into workflows. INSET: "Gen AI Shortens the Journey to Expertise".
