Abstract
This article examines changes in social media discussions about vasectomies on the Reddit group r/vasectomy before and after the U.S. Supreme Court's Dobbs v. Jackson decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade. Using qualitative and sentiment analyses of posts from one year before and after the ruling, the study found that post-Dobbs posters were younger and more likely to express concerns about sexual dysfunction and pre-operative anxieties. While core discussion themes remained similar, there was increased expression of doubt about undergoing vasectomy and greater appreciation for the online community after the decision. Despite these shifts, overall sentiment scores did not significantly differ between the two periods.
