Technology as a Social Determinant of Health.

The article shares insight on communication technology as social determinant of health as healthcare providers rely on electronic patient portals to communicate test results, appointment notices and other information. It argues that advances designed to reduce healthcare costs may never reach individuals, groups outside the social mainstream and rural dwellers who are without smartphones and Internet access. It cites the challenge of addressing social inequality for health social workers.
