Abstract

The article focuses on the OWC StudioStack, a Thunderbolt 5 external storage and expansion solution designed primarily for Apple’s Mac Studio and older M1/M2 Mac mini models. The StudioStack offers dual user-upgradable bays for an NVMe SSD (up to 8TB) and a 3.5-inch SATA HDD, providing flexible, high-capacity storage at significantly lower prices than Apple’s internal upgrades. It also adds multiple Thunderbolt 5 and USB-A ports, enhancing connectivity and supporting up to two external displays, while maintaining efficient cooling and performance. Although compatible with the smaller M4 Mac mini, the StudioStack fits less elegantly due to size differences. The base enclosure starts at $329.99, with various configurable storage options available through OWC. [Extracted from the article]
