Abstract
The article focuses on recent developments and challenges related to cybercrime in several African countries in 2024. In Angola, the Criminal Investigation Services recorded 1,430 cybercrimes, including computer fraud and sextortion, with significant arrests and seizures reported. Kenya faces increasing cyber-attack threats amid the digital migration of state services to the e-Citizen platform, which serves over 13 million users, prompting government warnings about cybersecurity risks. Namibia's state-owned Telecom Namibia is investigating a major data leak by the hacker group Hunters International after refusing to pay a ransom, affecting sensitive government and customer information. In Nigeria, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arrested nearly 800 suspects in a large raid targeting internet fraud, highlighting the country's ranking as fifth globally in cybercrime activities.
