Abstract
This article focuses on the preservation and celebration of the Lyons Electronic Office (LEO), recognized as the world's first business computer, which supported the operations of J. Lyons and Company, a major UK catering firm in the mid-20th century. The Leo Conservation Society and the Cambridge Centre for Computing History developed Virtual LEO 1, a historically accurate digital reconstruction of the original machine, allowing users worldwide to explore its operation and social context. Supported by National Lottery funding, the project includes extensive archival materials and an award-winning documentary film, highlighting LEO's role in managing Lyons' large-scale food production and distribution. The LEO Computers Society, with members across 28 countries, continues to promote the computer's legacy and history.
