Abstract

A former cloud engineer at First Republic Bank in San Francisco has been sentenced to two years in prison for hacking into the company's computer network after being fired. Miklos Daniel Brody accessed the network without authorization using his company-issued laptop, which he had failed to return. He deleted the bank's code repositories, ran a malicious script, left taunts for former colleagues, and downloaded proprietary bank code. Brody pleaded guilty to violating the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and making false statements to a government agency. He has been ordered to pay restitution of $529,266.37.
