Kyivstar buys Ukrainian ISP Shtorm to boost fixed broadband biz.

Abstract

The article focuses on recent developments in telecommunications across Europe and Ukraine, highlighting Telefónica España’s deployment of a dynamic Smart Edge network to enhance low-latency, AI-driven services close to business operations, supporting sectors like Industry 4.0 and digital sovereignty within the EU. In Ukraine, Kyivstar expanded its fixed broadband presence by acquiring regional ISP Shtorm and deepened its digital healthcare offerings through the $160 million purchase of medical platform Tabletki.ua, complementing its existing digital services portfolio. Additionally, in the UK, Virgin Media O2 launched O2 Satellite, a new satellite-to-mobile service powered by Starlink Direct to Cell, aimed at improving mobile connectivity nationwide.
