Abstract
The article focuses on the widening of the Vellore-Tirupattur main road (SH-122) to a four-lane stretch, aimed at improving traffic flow and providing an alternative route to the busy Chennai-Bengaluru Highway (NH 48). Funded under the Chief Minister's Road Development Plan (CMRDP) 2024-25, the project will cover 79.5 km at a cost of Rs 50 crore and includes the construction of 21 minor bridges, bus bays, and safety features. The expansion is expected to benefit small towns and farming villages along the route and is scheduled for completion by 2026, although it will involve the uprooting of 622 trees and the relocation of electrical infrastructure.
