Abstract
This article reviews the assessment of homework adherence in studies evaluating mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) for female sexual dysfunction (FSD). Analyzing 30 clinical trials, it found no standardized or gold standard instrument for measuring homework adherence, with most studies either not reporting adherence assessment methods or relying on ad hoc, nonvalidated measures. The most commonly prescribed homework involved mindfulness exercises, psychoeducation, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques, with partner involvement reported in a minority of studies. The review highlights a significant gap in validated tools for assessing homework adherence in MBCT for FSD and recommends adapting existing CBT adherence instruments or developing new psychometrically validated measures to improve research and clinical practice in this area.
