Abstract
The QJM journal has published a review on African Trypanosomiasis, also known as sleeping sickness, by Professor Kennedy from the University of Glasgow. This disease is a major health threat in over 36 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, affecting over 60 million people. The review provides an update on the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of this public health problem. In another study, researchers from the National Taiwan University found that individuals with preserved ratio impaired spirometry (PRISm) had an increased risk of mortality, particularly from cardiovascular complications. However, regular exercise was associated with a significant reduction in excess mortality. [Extracted from the article]
