Abstract
This article focuses on the development and implementation of the PrEParados model, a spatially explicit, social network–based strategy designed to engage men eligible for preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in South Florida, the domestic epicenter of the HIV epidemic. Grounded in social contagion theory and community-based participatory research (CBPR), the model integrates sociocentric, egocentric, and two-mode social network approaches with geospatial data to understand and leverage friendship, sexual, and substance use networks for improving PrEP awareness and uptake. Implemented among Latino men in Broward and Miami-Dade counties, the model demonstrated effectiveness in recruiting and engaging participants through trusted community partnerships and culturally tailored methods. Its adaptable design and reliance on accessible tools support scalability and sustainability, contributing to efforts to reduce HIV-related disparities by enhancing targeted prevention services.
