Abstract

The article focuses on the development of the Christian Pastoral Care and Counselling (CPCC) approach aimed at supporting the recovery of schizophrenia patients in Maluku, Indonesia. It highlights the misconceptions held by church ministers and congregations, who often view schizophrenia as a result of spiritual possession or witchcraft, leading to inappropriate recovery methods such as exorcisms. The research proposes a holistic pastoral counselling model that integrates spiritual, medical, psychological, social, and cultural support to enhance the well-being of schizophrenia patients. This interdisciplinary approach seeks to improve patients' spiritual health, reduce anxiety, and help them find meaning in life despite their symptoms. [Extracted from the article]
