Abstract

The article focuses on research conducted by Tianjin Normal University regarding the impact of childhood psychological abuse (CPA) on depressive symptoms in adolescents exposed to campus suicide events. The study, which involved 1,603 adolescents, identified a significant direct effect of CPA on depressive symptoms and established a chain mediation model where CPA influences depressive symptoms through psychological trauma and anxiety symptoms. The findings suggest that CPA creates a vulnerability to depression, particularly when triggered by acute stressors, highlighting the need for trauma-informed interventions for youth affected by suicide, especially those with a history of CPA.
