Abstract

This study examines stigma, barriers, and potential improvements in providing mental health care within community pharmacies in Jordan through qualitative interviews with 20 pharmacists. Findings reveal that while patients with mental health disorders (MHDs) face significant societal stigma, pharmacists themselves generally demonstrate empathy and minimal stigma in their professional environment. Key barriers identified include lack of privacy in pharmacies and insufficient mental health knowledge and training among pharmacists. Participants recommended enhanced education and training programs, creation of private consultation spaces, and public awareness campaigns to improve mental health support and reduce stigma in community pharmacy settings.
