Abstract

This article focuses on the validation and reliability assessment of the BETY-Biopsychosocial Questionnaire (BETY-BQ), a scale designed to evaluate the biopsychosocial status of patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS). In a study involving 91 pSS patients, the BETY-BQ demonstrated strong construct validity through significant correlations with established measures including the Health Assessment Questionnaire, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey, EULAR Sjögren's Syndrome Patient-Reported Index, Primary Sjögren's Syndrome Quality of Life questionnaire, and Euro-QoL 5D. The questionnaire showed excellent test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.99) and high internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.91). The BETY-BQ uniquely assesses domains such as pain coping, sleep quality, and sexuality, which are often underrepresented in other pSS-specific tools, supporting its use as a comprehensive patient-reported outcome measure in this population.
