Abstract

This article focuses on the psychiatric disorders that can present as early symptoms in individuals with frontal lobe neoplasms, a type of primary brain tumor (PTB). A literature review of studies published between 2014 and 2023 found that frontal lobe tumors can lead to various psychiatric manifestations, including mood disorders (such as depression and manic episodes), psychotic episodes, and personality disorders, which may precede physical symptoms. Due to the complex functions of the frontal lobe, these psychiatric symptoms do not have a straightforward relationship with tumor location. The study emphasizes the importance of multidisciplinary treatment approaches and neuropsychological evaluations before and after tumor resection, urging clinicians to consider organic causes in atypical psychiatric cases or when standard treatments are ineffective.
