Abstract

This article discusses a case study of a 33-year-old patient with endogenous endophthalmitis, a rare infection of the internal eye. The patient had a history of intravenous drug use and presented with eye pain, fever, and visual impairment. The infection was caused by methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA), and the patient was treated with a combination of intravenous antibiotics and intravitreal injections. The article also explores the use of dalbavancin, a new antibiotic, in the treatment of endogenous endophthalmitis. The study found that dalbavancin had good penetration into the eye and could be a potential option for systemic therapy. However, further research is needed to fully understand its pharmacokinetics in this context. [Extracted from the article]
