Abstract
This article examines telehealth utilization patterns among U.S. adults with chronic diseases using data from the 2022 Health Information National Trends Survey (HINTS 6). It found that 52% of participants used telehealth in the past year, with 34.7% relying on audio-only modalities, and usage varied by age, education, health literacy, and chronic condition type. Older adults, individuals with lower educational attainment, limited internet access, and lower health literacy were more likely to use audio-only telehealth, while higher health literacy and educational levels were associated with audio-video use. The study highlights disparities in telehealth access and suggests that improving digital literacy, broadband access, and support for video-based telehealth could enhance chronic disease management and reduce healthcare inequities.
