Abstract

Pilots at Air India and Vistara, both owned by the Tata Group, have expressed concerns about being overworked and underpaid. The Indian Pilots' Guild, which represents crew at Air India, wrote a letter to Tata's chairman and the CEOs of Vistara, Air India, and Air India Express, stating that the issues are systemic across Tata's aviation business. The pilots cited difficulties in getting leave approved, unstable rosters, and a "hostile and intimidating" work culture. The complaints pose a challenge to Tata's plan to transform Air India into a world-class airline and also raise concerns about the merger between Air India and Vistara. [Extracted from the article]
