Abstract
This article focuses on the development and validation of the first chromatographic methods—thin layer chromatography (TLC) densitometry and reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC)—for the simultaneous estimation of paracetamol (PAR), pseudoephedrine hydrochloride (PSE), and carbinoxamine maleate (CRX) in their pure forms and pharmaceutical formulations. These drugs, combined in a triple-action tablet used for relieving common cold and COVID-19 symptoms, present analytical challenges due to their widely differing concentration ratios. Both methods were optimized for accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and eco-friendliness, with greenness assessed using five established tools (NEMI, GAM, analytical eco-scale, GAPI, and AGREE), confirming their environmental sustainability. The study demonstrates that TLC offers a cost-effective, rapid alternative with high sample throughput, while HPLC provides superior separation with reasonable run times, making both suitable for routine quality control in pharmaceutical analysis.
