Abstract
The article focuses on recent pediatric medical research addressing autoimmune thyroid diseases (ATDs), type 1 diabetes quality of life during the COVID-19 pandemic, autism spectrum disorder (ASD) comorbid with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and palliative care for children with cancer. It reports that Hashimoto thyroiditis is the most common ATD in children and that Helicobacter pylori infection is more frequent in those with ATDs, with some requiring surgical intervention beyond medication. In children with type 1 diabetes, those aged 12 and older showed better quality of life during the pandemic, regardless of insulin delivery method. Among children with ASD, ADHD symptoms were highly prevalent and associated with additional developmental risks, highlighting the need for screening and treatment. The study on pediatric palliative care revealed significant gaps in service availability, training, and perceptions among physicians and families, with emotional functioning being notably affected in children with cancer.
