Abstract
This article examines the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) to co-create personalised guided imagery (GI) scripts for a weekly relaxation group on a low-secure forensic inpatient ward in Lanarkshire, Scotland. It details the clinical rationale, ethical considerations, and service user feedback, highlighting how AI facilitated a more person-centred, collaborative, and time-efficient approach to developing culturally relevant and psychologically informed GI exercises. The author emphasizes that AI served as a supportive tool requiring clinical oversight and refinement rather than replacing clinician expertise, and discusses the importance of assessing psychological safety when selecting imagery themes. The reflection suggests potential future applications of AI in therapeutic settings while underscoring the need for ethical governance and maintaining the central role of clinicians.
