Abstract
The article focuses on the nature and study of laughter, explaining it as a physiological reaction involving both physical movements and sound production triggered by humor. It highlights that laughter is a spontaneous reflex controlled by multiple brain regions, including the limbic system, and involves increased respiratory and cardiovascular activity. Gelotology, the physiological study of laughter derived from the Greek word "gelos," examines laughter’s positive effects on physical and mental health, such as muscle relaxation and stress reduction. Research on animals, including primates and rodents, indicates that laughter-like vocalizations occur in response to tickling, suggesting evolutionary roots of laughter. [Extracted from the article]
