Abstract

This article examines the association between urinary tract infections (UTIs) and the use of anti-androgen medications in females aged 18 to 51, based on a national claims database analysis. The study found that the risk of UTI within two weeks to one year after anti-androgen prescriptions was significantly higher compared to matched controls (13.2% vs. 10.2%, Risk Ratio 1.3). Interestingly, individuals with a higher number of anti-androgen prescriptions (7 or more) showed a lower relative risk of UTIs compared to those with fewer prescriptions (3-6). The findings suggest a notable correlation between anti-androgen use and increased UTI risk, highlighting the need for further clinical research incorporating vulvar physiology and conditions in recurrent UTI diagnostics.
