Abstract
The article focuses on the diverse daily time experiences of family caregivers providing unpaid care to older adults in South Korea, using data from the 2018 Korean Family Care Survey (N=501). Employing Latent Profile Analysis (LPA) on six time-use indicators—including actual and preferred caregiving hours and perceived time pressure across sleep, housework, socializing, and leisure—the study identifies five distinct caregiving types that vary by socioeconomic status, living arrangements, social support, and caregiving intensity. These types range from "concerted care" caregivers who balance care with formal support and employment, to "on-call, intensive care" caregivers facing high time burdens with limited assistance. The findings highlight the need for tailored long-term care policies that address caregivers' varied circumstances, promote equitable sharing of care responsibilities between genders, and enhance formal support services to alleviate caregiving burdens.
