Abstract

The article discusses the use of biologics in the treatment of congenital ichthyosis (CI), a group of genetic skin disorders characterized by skin thickening, scaling, and inflammation due to a defective skin barrier. While conventional treatments can help manage symptoms, new targeted therapies are needed. The study by Mazereeuw-Hautier et al. found that biologics were effective in only some patients with CI, particularly those with erythrodermic phenotypes. Further research is needed to understand the changes in the skin barrier and to develop more precise treatments for CI. [Extracted from the article]
